What does it cost to study in Australia?

Anyone who is not a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand is classed as an international student, and as such is liable to pay international fees to study at university, college or high school.

Tuition fees are individually set by each university and college and so very considerably depending on the course being applied for and the institution that teaches it. Tuition fees are generally payable in bi-annual instalments at the beginning of each semester.

In addition to tuition fees you will also need to budget for the cost of living.  The Australian government and higher education institutions recommend budgeting between $18,000 and $28,000 AUD per year for living expenses, depending on location and lifestyle preferences.

The funding options for overseas study are currently limited. At the moment the UK and Irish governments will not allow you to use a student loan to fund any study in Australia or New Zealand. If you are not an Australian or New Zealand citizen you will also not be eligible to use a student loan from the Australian government.
